The task given to us was to create a character from a previous era in time and have them interact with today’s lifestyle. My idea used the time period of feudal Japan, with samurais and the warring clans. With the idea of a samurai I then thought about using something different instead of a human as my previous experience with mapping a human face did not go well and partly of wanting to try something different. With this in mind I found that there are a few different animals that have been previously used with the samurai persona from pandas to tigers but I decided on a penguin which has been previously in a comic series and other pieces shown on my ideas board.
I created a story board that a penguin would wake up and get ready and then go to the kitchen, from here he would encounter a toaster and would put in bread and start it, the bread would then shoot into the air and the penguin would cut it into pieces while in mid air and have it hit the plate. This is a common cliché in old samurai movies where the hero would cut a few people with his sword and their wounds would appear or they would fall down only when the hero has sheathed his blade.
